Saalumarada Thimmakka, who passed away on 14 November 2025 at bengaluru(karnataka). She was reported to be about 114 year old at her death, having been born on 30 june 1911. She known as the “Tree Mother of Karnataka,” her life was a reminder that dedication and love for nature can real change- that no matter where you come from.
Thimmakka and her husband began planting banyan trees along a stretch of highway in Karnataka. What started as a simple act of care soon turned into a lifetime journey. Over the years, she nurtured more than 8,000 trees, turning barren paths into green lifelines. Her work inspired countless people to respect nature and understand the power of planting even a single sapling.
Though she is no longer with us, her legacy continues to breathe through every tree she planted. Her life teaches us that the best way to serve the planet is through small, consistent actions that grow into something larger than ourselves.
